Stepped into the Southern FM studios this afternoon to catch a glimpse of The Weathermen….and what a pleasant surprise!
One of Melbourne’s finest folk bands I’ve seen in awhile, great songwriting (Bec and Seb) and you can never go past a little Banjo (Dylan) and strings (Tim on viola) and who hasn’t got a soft spot for a sultry female vocalist like Bec Watts.
The fine array of talented musicians and singer/songwriters stepped into the Studios for the Sunday Live Sessions and put on an awesome performance….word up, keep an eye out for these guys, they are ones to watch!
With one of the band members having returned from hiatus they have set up a home studio and are getting ready to lay down some new tracks…..The Weathermen everybody!

Your Mentone ticket to cool tunes and fun times

MENTONE commuters are on track for music, movement and merriment this month.
The Mentone Station and Garden Festival is on for the next four Saturdays, with organisers lining up a diverse program including a Bollywood dance class, musicians and a comedy duo for the unique community celebration.
The folk-jazz outfit The Weathermen will perform on November 27.
Mandolin and banjo player Dylan Bird said it was unusual for musicians to play at a station without passing around a hat. “It is a bit different,” Bird said.
“We’re not quite sure what to expect, but it should be fun.
“We wanted to start doing more outdoor shows and festivals, so this is a great start.”
Friends of Mentone Station and Gardens chair, Dorothy Booth, said the festival was sponsored by Kingston Council.
“(It) is a celebration of our unique station, which is one of only three in Victoria with state heritage listing, and it’s a gift to the community,” Ms Booth said.
